The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is in the processing of recalling 7,500 IFS Inc. vending machine and c-store sandwiches due to a possible contamination outbreak.
According to the FDA, the South Elgin, Ill.-based company discovered some of the sandwiches might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and potentially fatal infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
Listeria is the same contaminate that led to a recall of nearly 4,500 Cloud’s sandwiches last week.
The IFS products were sold in vending machines and convenience stores in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin in plastic wrappers. The items were Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with Price Look Up # 3707, Cuban Sandwich PLU # 3795 and Asiago Italian PLU #3770.
