Having just celebrated in 85th anniversary, Geo. H. Green Oil is
busy proving that is only getting better, not older. Five company
stores, were joined by the office staff and a $1,000 donation from is
dealer organization to raise $30,000 in less than a month to assist
three local charities and the Juvenile Diabetes Research fund.
Starting Thanksgiving Day, the five stores have worked
diligently to raise more than $1,000 per day to surpass their goal of
$25,000, by a whopping 20%, said Jim Callahan, marketing director for
the six-store chain in Fairburn, Ga.
"Through the outstanding efforts of Greenway Stores’ office
employees and with the exceptional vendor and customer support, some
1,400 underprivileged children will wake up Christmas morning having
been visited by Santa and Atlanta’s Empty Stocking organization,"
Callahan said.
Also benefiting from the fund-raiser will be the "Welcome House," a woman’s shelter, and the "In His Great Name" ministry.
"While it was indeed a total team effort, every team has a leader and
our Fairburn Family Travel Center and its magnificent employees paved
the road to success by raising approximately 50% of the grand total,"
Callahan said. "We are so proud and grateful for the efforts and
success of each and every member of our team. They exceeded a goal that
we thought would be extremely difficult to achieve."
Green Oil, which is also a BP, Chevron and Shell distributor in
the Atlanta market, has a long history of charitable giving, including
its support of victims of Hurricane Katrina and children’s
organizations.
"Our group tries very hard to follow the mandates and
leadership of our owners," Callahan said. "But raising funds for such
good causes makes it much more fun and exciting. They indeed feel the
reason for season."
