Two Massachusetts men running an Exxon gas station in Portsmouth, N.H. face criminal charges for skimming thousands of dollars in cash in an elaborate scheme, TV stations there reported.
Manuel Labaki, of Walpole, and Sobh Mossad, of Norwood, allegedly stole $76,000 from the company that supplies fuel to that gas station, stations WMUR and WBZTV reported.
Investigators say the scheme began last September when the men disabled the PIN pads on the gas dispensers, forcing customers to pay with cash. The men then pocketed the cash and rigged the gas station computer so it couldn’t accurately record the sales, the TV stations reported.
At least 18,000 gallons of gas are unaccounted for at the gas station.
