Price Chopper grocery stores, of Schenectady, N.Y., has issued a voluntary recall of pre-packaged 90% lean ground sirloin patties after three reported incidents where crystallized fragments were found in the product.
The sirloin patties have a sell-by date of May 19, 2008, and were manufactured by FairbanksFarms of Ashville, N.C., for Price Chopper and other supermarket chains.
In addition to pulling the product off its shelves, Price Chopper initiated its Smart Reply phone notification program, which alerts customers who may have purchased the recalled item using their AdvantEdge card. Customers were told they’d receive a full refund for the returned items.
Price Chopper’s 100 grocery stores in six states are owned and operate by the Golub Corporation.
