Dallas-based c-store leader 7-Eleven Inc. is taking its prepaid wireless program global with the launch of its 7-Connect program in Singapore, the Dallas Business Journal reported.
7-Eleven decided to roll out the private-brand wireless program in Asia after successfully launching a similar program in the U.S. and Canada. The 7-Connect program will give Singapore consumers access to a wireless product that offers free nights and weekends and wireless rates as low as 8 cents per minute for a monthly fee of $30.
7-Eleven told the Dallas Business Journal that it’s the first private retailer to launch such a program in Asia.
The company is partnering with M1, one of Singapore’s major mobile service providers, to bring the new service plan to Asia. Ztar Mobile Inc. also partnered with 7-Eleven to develop the company’s international wireless plan.
