A Detroit gas station owner is discounting gas prices after one of his customers won a $1 million lottery prize last week, the Detroit Free Press reported.
Kayed Bazzi, owner of a BP in Detroit, received a $2,000 commission from the Michigan State Lottery after he sold the winning ticket. One day next week, he’s selling 10,000 gallons of gasoline at a discount rate, the newspaper reported.
He’s selling the fuel for 20 cents per gallon below the cost to him from the supplier.
“For instance, today the price is $1.69, my cost is $1.60,” Bazzi told the newspaper. “I’m going to sell it for $1.40.”
Bazzi said his customers mean a lot to him and he understands that many of them are struggling to make ends meet. “It’s a rough time and I’m giving back in appreciation for my customers.”
