Atlas Oil Co., Taylor, Mich., said it has completed its purchase of 57 convenience stores from BP Products North America in Chicago and it will begin supplying the sites immediately.
The locations in the South Chicago Suburbs are a mix of company-owned and dealer-owned sites. Atlas will manage the sites from its South Bend, Ind., operations center where it currently manages the supply of over 129 retail locations. Atlas first announced its strategic relationship with BP in December 2007 and closed on the purchase of 23 stations from BP in September 2008.
“Our acquisition earlier this year in Northwest Indiana provided a platform for growth in the Chicago market. It also demonstrated to BP our ability to use the platform we have built to quickly integrate new businesses into our Company,” said Mike Evans, executive vice president of business development for Atlas Oil.
With its third acquisition in less than 12 months, Atlas is rapidly becoming one of the largest BP Jobbers in the Midwest, said Sean Daley, vice president midwest sales for BP Products North America.
Atlas is a distributor of petroleum products and related services in 17 states and Ontario, Canada. It now supplies fuel to a total of 354 gas stations. For more information on Atlas, view the January issue of Convenience Store Decisions.
