In an effort to capitalize on the growing prepaid gift card trend, MAPCO Express Inc. said it would carry nFinanSe’s Discover Network General Purpose Reloadable Prepaid Cards and Gift Cards at its more than 450 MAPCO Express convenience stores.
Consumers can purchase the nFinanSe General Purpose Reloadable Prepaid Card for only $5.95 and conveniently add funds at any MAPCO store. As each customer receives a real Discover® Network branded card at the time of purchase, consumers can use their Card that same day to make purchases at millions of merchant locations nationwide–including in person, online and over the telephone–and access cash at participating ATMs.
In addition to the Reloadable Prepaid Cards, MAPCO will be offering nFinanSe Discover® Network Gift Cards in $25 and $50 denominations in their stores. All nFinanSe products enjoy free customer service 24/7 and cardholders can receive text messages and emails with transaction and balance information after each use to their cell phones and email accounts.
The Mercator Advisory Group predicts that the total amount of reloadable prepaid debit cards sold at retail will more than quadruple from $2.2 billion in 2007 to almost $10.8 billion in 2010. The Mercator Advisory Group also predicts the market for open-loop gift cards will grow from $5 billion in 2007 to $13.6 billion in 2010.
“Our trendsetting Reloadable Prepaid Card has been designed to have a low retail sales price of only $5.95, the lowest monthly maintenance fee of only $2.95, no transaction fees when used at stores and free customer service, which is available in English and Spanish, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” said Jerry Welch, chairman and CEO of nFinanSe. “Given the current tough economic environment, we believe that our general purpose reloadable card is a great fit for MAPCO and a terrific value for their customers.”
