Houchens Industries, operator of 215 Save-A-Lot stores and 85 convenience stores, reached a deal to acquire Sheldon’s Express Pharmacies, a two-unit chain based in Bowling Green, Ky.
The Sheldon’s units are described as state-of-the- art prescription drug stores that deliver quick service, extremely competitive pricing, and friendly service to their loyal customers.
Sheldon’s Express Pharmacy will retain its name, employees, and management team, according to Houchens.
“Houchens and Sheldon’s both have an interest in expansion and establishing a regional presence. I will continue to stay involved in managing the existing pharmacies,” said Steve Sheldon, president of Sheldon’s Express Pharmacies.
Houchens is a 100% employee-owned holding company with sales exceeding $2 billion in 2008.
