Cumberland Farms, Framingham, Mass., is joining the fight against childhood cancer, one cup of coffee at a time.
At a recent event at Children’s Hospital Boston, Ari Haseotes, president of the New England c-store chain pledged the chain’s support, and announced that in July the company will donate five cents per cup of coffee – including its signature Farmhouse Blend-sold in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire to Children’s Hospital Boston to fund pediatric cancer research.
“This campaign gives customers the opportunity to support a great cause while enjoying a delicious, affordable cup of coffee,” said Haseotes, whose son is a cancer survivor.
“Children’s Hospital Boston has taken the lead in radically improving survival rates for pediatric cancer through cutting-edge research and exceptional inpatient care,” said Scott Armstrong, MD, PhD in Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology and Medicine departments, and the physician spearheading the funded research. “Cumberland Farms’ gift will help us continue research to develop life-saving cancer treatments.”
