C-store chain QuikTrip has begun construction on its first location in the Tucson, Ariz. market, The Arizona Star reported.
The site is located at 2345 E. Irvington Road, and QuikTrip spokesman Mike Thornbrugh said he expected the 5,000-square-foot store with 16 gas pumps to be open by mid-January.
This site will mark the first of many QuikTrip locations planned for the Tucson market. QuikTrip has been buying locations across the valley, including near South Craycroft and East Golf Links Road, West Valencia and South Camino de la Tierra, and North Kolb Road and East Tanque Verde Road, The Arizona Star reported.
“We have a lot of experience from watching the Phoenix market,” Thornbrugh said. ‘We think the opportunity is for us to get in, carve out a niche and secure a pretty good market share for us. It’s just a natural fit.”
The Tulsa-Okla.-based company currently has about 70 locations in the Phoenix market.
