AMCON Distributing Company, an Omaha, Neb.-based consumer products company is increasing its wholesale distribution presence in the Northwest Arkansas market by acquiring the convenience store distribution assets of Discount Distributors from its parent Harps Food Stores Inc., Reuters reported.

This acquisition will be funded through AMCON’s existing credit facilities and will add a sixth branch to its system that will be located in Springdale, Ark. Fiscal 2008 sales for the assets acquired totaled about $59.8 million.
AMCON is a leading wholesale distributor of consumer products, including beverages, candy, tobacco, groceries, foodservice, frozen and chilled foods, and health and beauty care products with distribution centers in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
