Boyd Coffee Company, a family owned and operated purveyor of fine coffee, tea, food products and coffee brewing equipment nationwide, has appointed Jeffrey Newman as the company’s president and CEO.
David Boyd and Dick Boyd will remain as owners and Co-Chairmen for Boyd Coffee Company. Newman started as president and CEO on Jan. 11.
“We see this as the ideal time for this historic transition,” said David Boyd. “Boyd Coffee Company’s business is poised for future growth, and this is an excellent opportunity to bring in a new corporate leader with the perspective and experience to continue preparing the Boyd family’s fourth generation to assume future company leadership.”
Jeffrey Newman comes to Boyd Coffee Company with more than 26 years of experience in the foodservice industry, most recently as the chief operating officer/vice president and general manager of Columbus Distributing LLC, in San Francisco, a family-owned purveyor of fine foods and distributor of many other specialty and gourmet foods.
Newman has also held senior executive roles with TVG, Clark Foodservice, Rykoff-Sexton and Beecham, U.S.A. He has an extensive background in food-industry management, marketing, sales and operations, which includes strategic planning, crossfunctional team building and the execution of profit-driven business plans.
“We believe Mr. Newman has the proven track record to manage our operations and provide strategic direction to move Boyd Coffee Company forward as we prosper over the long term,” said Dick Boyd. “He brings considerable industry experience, a strong ability to work in a family-owned business and an impressive record of team building that delivers strong results.”
