Fuel supplier C.K. Smith and Co. Inc., which closed 23 Irving gas stations last month in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, said yesterday its decision was part of a strategy to exit the gasoline business, but will not affect its heating oil and propane services business in Central Massachusetts, the Worcester Telegram reported.
“Today, C.K. Smith, a division of Petrolex II, continues to provide the same fuels and services that the company has provided to customers for over 116 years,” said company President Bruce A. Fortin, in a press release. “All customer accounts, including customers who have prepaid for their oil and customers with a positive budget balance, will continue to be honored.”
“We have kept Central Massachusetts homeowners warm in the winter and cool in the summer for a very long time, and we intend to continue to provide the highest possible levels of customer service for many years to come,” the press release noted.
