Valero Renewable Fuels Company LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corporation has closed on the purchase of an ethanol plant from Renew Energy.
The plant, located near Jefferson, Wis., has an annual production capacity of 110 million gallons. Valero paid $72 million for the plant.
The purchase gives Valero Renewables a total of 10 ethanol plants with a combined production capacity of 1.1 billion gallons per year, making it one of the nation’s largest ethanol producers.
Valero Energy Corporation owns or operates 15 refineries with a combined throughput capacity of approximately 2.8 million barrels per day, and about 5,800 retail and branded wholesale outlets in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean under the Valero, Diamond Shamrock, Shamrock, Ultramar and Beacon brands.
