This week, RaceTrac Petroleum Inc., is donating $102,939.88 to the American Red Cross in support of the Haitian Earthquake Relief effort, the Cedartown Standard reported.
The more than $100,000 in funds was raised during last week’s Coffee for a Cause campaign, during which all proceeds from the sale of 16-, 20- and 24-ounce cups of coffee were put toward the fundraising effort.
All RaceTrac stores in eight metro markets-Atlanta, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa, Miami and Dallas-participated in the campaign.
According to the American Red Cross, the donation will provide tents, hygiene packs, blankets, cooking sets and water containers for more than 5,000 people.
A similar campaign in December 2009 allowed RaceTrac to donate more than $28,500 to Camp Sunshine, an Atlanta organization committed to enriching the lives of children with cancer and their families through recreational, educational and support programs, the Cedartown Standard reported.
