Sheetz Enlists Teradata Corp.

Sheetz Inc. is installing the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance by Teradata Corp.

Once installed, the new data warehouse appliance is expected to further increase data management capacity at the convenience store chain-known for its award-winning food, innovative technology and excellent customer service.

Sheetz continues to grow its network of stores and the need for more complex analytics is increasing.  Sheetz uses analytics software from Teradata and other data mining and business intelligence partners to analyze market basket content, product affinity, and merchandising. Among these is the multi-touch marketing intelligence tool, Teradata Relationship Manager, an enterprise marketing management portfolio.

“The scalability of Teradata’s platform family makes this a smooth transition as our needs for complex analysis grow,” said Jim Wenner, chief information officer for Sheetz, which 350 convenience locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina. “We believe the economics and performance of the new platform to be a wise investment in our own business future as well as in the advanced technology we need to support our vision.”

The Teradata Purpose-Built Platform Family is enjoying steady adoption across industries including retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and the entertainment businesses.
