Sunflower Farmers Market, a rapidly growing value-priced organic and natural foods grocer in six Southwestern states, is set to open its first store in California in April 2011.
While the concept is new to California, Mike Gilliland, the man behind the brand, is well known there. He established the popular Wild Oats supermarket in the 90’s, and is now back to debut Sunflower Farmers Market.
The first Sunflower in California will occupy the building at 424 Roseville Square in Roseville, Calif. It presents a fresh take on grocery shopping by offering customers affordable all-natural and organic products. Sunflower Farmers Market’s goal is clear in the company’s motto, “Serious Food…Silly Prices.” The new Roseville location will continue this concept by offering fresh, local produce, all-natural meats and seafood, a huge bulk selection, plus natural living health and wellness products, all at the lowest possible prices.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing Sunflower Farmers Market to California and to continue expanding even further throughout the state in 2011,” said Mike Gilliland, founder of Sunflower Farmers Market. “Our current locations have been extremely successful and well-received by health-conscious consumers wanting affordable options. We look forward to making quality, healthy grocery options accessible to all communities we can, and entering the California market is one more step toward that goal.”
The store looks forward to bringing up to 100 new jobs to the local economy. Following its launch in Roseville, Sunflower Farmers Market plans to continue growing, bringing its “serious food at silly prices” motto to San Jose and even more cities throughout California. Sunflower currently operates 32 full-service grocery stores throughout Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and Texas.
The Roseville Sunflower Farmers Market is set to celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 with a ribbon cutting, giveaways and prizes, fun family activities, product samples and savings on quality groceries.
