“In a complex industry like ours, his experience in research and analysis, and (Biemel’s) attention to detail will be valuable assets,” says OPMCA CEO.

The Ohio Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Store Association (OPMCA) has announced Dave Biemel as its new director of regulatory and government affairs.

Biemel is a 2010 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law and has experience at both the state and federal levels of government.

“Having worked in a busy office at the Ohio General Assembly, Dave knows the ins and outs of the legislative and regulatory process,” said Jennifer Rhoads, OPMCA president and CEO.  “In a complex industry like ours, his experience in research and analysis, and his attention to detail will be valuable assets to OPMCA members as he advocates on their behalf.”

In his role with OPMCA, Biemel will oversee all state and federal regulations impacting OPMCA members who wholesale, retail, and transport motor fuels, heating oil, and other petroleum products.  He will also manage the association’s day-to-day interaction with the Ohio General Assembly.

Prior to joining OPMCA, Biemel served in various capacities at the Ohio House of Representatives, the State of Ohio Personnel Board of Review, and the Federal Trade Commission.   He received his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from The Ohio State University and his juris doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.  Biemel is a native of Worthington, Ohio.

In existence since 1922, the OPMCA is the statewide trade association representing more than 500 independent small businesses in the petroleum and convenience industry.  OPMCA’s members own and operate the overwhelming majority of Ohio’s 5,200 convenience stores and employ more than 55,000 Ohioans.  Members on the wholesale side of the industry employ thousands more in commercial fueling facilities, transportation divisions, heating oil sales and home offices.
