“We are paving the way of the future by working with a high level group of partners like the St. Louis Cardinals who understand that we’re in this together to raise the loyalty bar again,” says Gulf spokesperson.
Gulf Oil has announced a new sponsorship agreement with Major League Baseball’s (MLB) St. Louis Cardinals.
The move comes as Gulf Oil returns to St. Louis for the first time in 25 years, as the brand continues to expand nationally.
Gulf Oil has long embraced partnerships with MLB teams across the country. The new sponsorship shows the brand’s excitement to serve Cardinals’ Nation. The cornerstone and most visible element of the three-year partnership is new signage on the right field wall at Busch Stadium that will display Gulf Oil’s legendary blue and orange disc.
“This sponsorship underscores Gulf Oil’s long-term commitment to the St. Louis market, as we expand nationally,” said Gulf Oil president and chief operating officer Ron Sabia. “Our relationship with the Cardinals further establishes our reputation as a premium gasoline retailer for an on-the-go world.”
The sponsorship also includes a package of tickets and rights to conduct an annual in-market promotion. It comes at an exciting time in St. Louis’ history, as it enters its first phase of the much anticipated $155 million Ballpark Village built by Cordish Development adjacent to Busch Stadium.
“Bringing the iconic Gulf and Cardinals brands together is a home run,” Gulf Oil Chief Marketing Officer Rick Dery added. “There is a love for both of these brands. With no limitations to what we can do with the brand, we are paving the way of the future by working with a high level group of partners like the St. Louis Cardinals who understand that we’re in this together to raise the loyalty bar again.”
“The Cardinals are thrilled to establish a marketing partnership with a premier national brand such as Gulf Oil,” said Daniel Farrell, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Gulf Oil is a national, branded supplier of motor fuels throughout the U.S. It distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 2,000 branded gasoline retail centers, 12 proprietary oil terminals, and more than 70 other supply terminals.
