Jason’s Law would provide $20 million annually to develop truck parking.
NATSO, the national association representing America’s truckstops and travel plazas, joined Rep. Paul Tonk
o (D-N.Y.) and other transportation groups May 11 in announcing support for House Bill H.R. 1803, which aims to expand the number of commercial truck parking spaces nationwide.
If enacted, the bill also known as Jason’s Law, would provide $20 million annually to develop truck parking, including adding capacity at truckstops and travel plazas, and fund technology that helps identify open parking spaces.
NATSO joined the American Trucking Associations, Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, and the American Moving and Storage Association in supporting the bill.
“Safety and security for America’s professional truck drivers is a top priority for the truckstop and travel plaza community,” said NATSO President and CEO Lisa Mullings. “NATSO members are committed to meeting their customers’ needs for safe parking and to helping them access secure places to park.”
NATSO applauded Rep. Tonko and bill co-sponsor Congressman Erik Paulsen (R-Minn.) for their commitment to the transportation community and to ensuring safe and secure parking for the trucking industry.
