Customers who stopped by a Thorntons convenience store on Friday, June 10, saved 10 cents per gallon by using a debit card to buy gas.
Thorntons offered a fuel promotion to debit card carrying guests on Friday, June 10, just days after the Senate voted to upload a law that would provide interchange relief on debit card transactions.
Customers who stopped by a Thorntons convenience store on Friday had the option to instantly save 10 cents per gallon on gas when they purchased fuel with their debit card, and entered their 4-digit PIN number. The special fuel offer was valid for one day only (Friday, June 10), and took place at all Louisville and southern Indiana store locations.
“This promotion allows consumers to fill up and save when using their debit card” stated Matt Thornton, president and CEO of Thorntons. “Consumers have faced high gasoline prices for several months, and this will allow them to save money, just in time for the busy summer driving season.”
Customers did not have to sign up or register to receive the discount on their fuel purchase, and the savings discount applied to all grades of fuel, which vary by location, with a 30-gallon maximum limit.
