With 146 new locations open in 2011, Krispy Krunchy is on schedule to surpass the 300 mark by December.
Krispy Krunchy Chicken opened seven more stores last week, bringing the total number of new locations in 2011 to 146 stores, an average of slightly more than six openings a week.
With two weeks left in the quarter, Krispy Krunchy continues to rate its market areas in terms of store openings as added motivation.
“I ask each market for its (store opening) goals at the beginning of the year,” said Dan Shapiro, executive vice president of Krispy Krunchy Foods LLC. “Last year we opened about 240 locations, and this year we’re on track to open 300 if we can keep up our average, which is about six stores a week, which is unbelievable.”
The total goal set is 462 new locations in 2011, or as many as possible.
The company reported that the Dallas market opened two stores and is inching closer to overtaking Louisiana, still ranked No. 1 for most new stores. Nashville opened one store, bringing its total to 14 new locations for the year. Meanwhile Louisville opened two locations to bring it just two stores shy of Nashville’s total. The Great Plains and Midwest also each opened a store.
