7-Eleven expands its line of travel-size products to help vacationers this season.
In today’s world of baggage fees, long security lines and restrictions on what can be carried onto the airplane, few U.S. travelers would use the words “travel” and “convenience” in the same sentence.
But to make life on-the-go a little easier, 7-Eleven Inc. added a line of fill-in and travel health and beauty products in Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved sizes, which are available in packages of less than four ounces, carrying a retail price of $1.99 each or two items for $3.
Twelve travel-size products are available on shelves at participating 7-Eleven stores:
- Colgate toothpaste
- Scope toothpaste
- Gold Bond powder
- Head & Shoulders shampoo
- TRESemme hair spray
- Dep Sport styling gel
- Mennen Speed Stick deodorant
- Coppertone Sport 30 SPF sunscreen
- Jergen’s Ultra-Healing lotion
- Pert Plus 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner
- Barbasol shave cream
- Handy Solutions hand sanitizer
“7-Eleven always is looking for ways to innovate and broaden our brand of convenience,” said Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, 7-Eleven’s senior vice president of merchandising, marketing and logistics. “We worked with our franchisees who related their customers’ needs, which led us to this line of products. Based on our customers’ buying habits, we believe we deliver the convenience, quality and value they want.”
Launched this spring, the mini-sized items are up in sales, especially in tourist-heavy areas like south Florida.
7-Eleven Franchisee Elease Lewars, whose Hollywood, Fla., store is close to several hotels and the beach, has seen a significant uptick in traffic since she began carrying the travel-sized health and beauty aids.
“This is the greatest thing to happen to my store,” she said. “The price is fantastic at two for $3, and tourists are always dropping in for forgotten items, especially toothpaste. I’ve learned to make sure we are always in stock, because they’re such hot-sellers.”
7-Eleven currently operates close to 42,500 stores in 16 countries across the world.
