With discount prices and an exotic array of private label products, grocery chain Trader Joe’s looks to attract customers in north Naples, Fla.
Traders Joe’s is headed for Florida with its first store, which will measure 14,000 square feet, scheduled to open in north Naples, at a former Borders bookstore at 10600 U.S. 41 North, in Granada Shoppes south of Immokalee Road later this year, Marconews.com reported
“There are a lot of foodies in the area,” said Alison Mochizuki, a spokeswoman for the grocery store chain. “We consider ourselves a neighborhood grocery store and it seems like a wonderful neighborhood for us to be part of.”
Trader Joe’s, headquartered in Monrovia, Calif., carries the basics, along with exotic foods from around the world. About 80% of the store’s products are sold under the Trader Joe’s private label brand.
The chain is also known for its bargain $2 Charles Shaw wine, which the Naples store plans to carry.
Trader Joe’s has 360 locations in 30 states. The chain will also increase its presence in the Chicago market with another store opening in the city on Friday.
Asked if there would be other locations in Florida, Mochizuki said she had no comment. “We don’t have anything else to announce right now,” she told Marconews.com.
