Workers across the country are banding together to fight for a living wage.
A national protest took place on Tuesday, Nov. 10, as fast food workers took to the streets to protest for a $15 minimum wage.
According to a report from Time, Tuesday’s strike took place in 270 cities across the country at McDonald’s, KFC, Wendy’s, Burger King and other restaurants. The aim of the strike was to draw the attention of the 64 million workers who are making less than $15 an hour. Aside from fighting for the an increased minimum wage, those participating in the strike also hope to gain union rights.
It is expected that workers in other fields will join in the protest, across 500 cities. The hope of the strike organizers is that they may attract the attention of the 2016 presidential candidates, so that they may ignite the issue in their campaigns.
