The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) of Central New York (CNY) gives BEST Award to SavOn stores.
SavOn convenience stores has earned first place recognition from the Central New York BEST awards in 2012 for its commitment to workplace learning and performance.
This is the first year SavOn applied for the award, beating the 12 other organizations in the review. The company received the award specifically for its “Exceptional Customer Service: Shopping for the Best” program, focused on customer service training and a mystery shopper program.
Oneida Nation Enterprises also received the third place “sapphire award” for its “Leading Through Learning: The Leader Learning Circle” program. Ray Halbritter, Oneida Nation representative and Nation Enterprises CEO, said he congratulates the SavOn team members.
“Through training, coaching and feedback, we have promoted continuous improvement at our stores,” Halbritter said. “This first place honor is a testament to the commitment we have to provide the best customer service experience for our SavOn guests.”
CNY BEST Awards recognize organizations, internship providers, consultants and individuals who link learning to strategic growth. Diana Wolgemuth, 2012 CNY BEST committee chairperson, said SavOn’s achievements and its commitment to improvement in the marketplace.
“What set SavOn’s application apart was the simple, but extremely effective way in which they addressed a challenge in the strategic part of their business,” Wolgemuth said. “The achievements were supported by strong metrics and there was a fundamental culture shift in the way the employees were engaged in the solution through empowerment and ownership.”
