Publix c-stores tests the online sale of deli products at one of its stores this August.
Publix Deli Online Easy Ordering plans to launch at a Lakeland, Fla., store on Aug. 3 and is expected to rollout in 50 additional stores later this year.
Customers will be able to order custom deli subs, wraps, meats and cheeses at www.publix.com/order or via a mobile device. Select stores will also have in-store devices for order placement. Customers who place an order will be given a pickup number in a final order summary that is emailed to them.
Payments for the online deli program are to be tendered at the time of pickup. No minimum order amount is required and no fee is charged for the online service.
“We strive to offer new services that enhance (customers’) overall shopping experience,” said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations. “Publix Deli Online Easy Ordering is a natural extension of our service commitment, especially for on-the-go customers.”
Publix currently owns and operates 1,053 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
