Believe And Achieve Scholarship Program now in its seventh year.

Cumberland Farms, for the seventh consecutive year, is now accepting applications from bright and ambitious high school seniors across its service area for the company’s popular Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program.

Since Cumberland Farms began the program six years ago, Cumberland Farms has awarded close to $800,000 through the Believe and Achieve Scholarship program to hundreds of college-bound high school students.

“At Cumberland Farms, we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people. We believe that today, more than ever, high school graduates deserve the education of their dreams without finances standing in the way, and we’re proud to ease their costs,” said Ari Haseotes, president of the Cumberland Farms Retail Division. “We created this scholarship program seven years ago to help support and improve the opportunities ahead for our next generation, and we look forward to continuing our efforts in the coming year.”

As part of the company’s commitment to nurturing the futures of young people, the program provides $1,000 scholarships to eligible graduating high school seniors across its service area. Last year Cumberland Farms awarded $130,000 in Believe and Achieve Scholarships to 130 students in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Vermont. Thanks to the help provided by their scholarships, students were able to attend a wide cross-section of institutions, including Harvard, Villanova, New York University, the University of Massachusetts, Columbia University, Princeton, Stanford, Brown and more.

The program is open to students entering a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school in the fall of 2013 who live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms outlet. Scholarships will be awarded based on a student’s academic performance, as well as the student’s financial need. Winners will be notified in the spring of 2012.

Information about the Believe and Achieve Scholarship program, including entry criteria, is available online at https://cumberlandfarms.scholarshipamerica.org, as well as at all Cumberland Farms store locations. The application period begins on Oct. 1, 2012, and the deadline to file submissions is December 15, 2012.

Since formalizing its Corporate Giving Program six years ago, Cumberland Farms has donated millions of dollars in cash and products to causes that directly benefit thousands of young people through scholarships, direct-to-school programs, youth sports, local fundraising and more.
