Boy Scout Troop wins, plans to use award towards future Pack activities and to help subsidize kids to go to Summer Camp.
Goetze’s Candy Co. Inc. has officially declared the Grand Prize Winner of September’s Give & Goetze Initiative: Pack 55 from the Northern New Jersey Council.
The surprise announcement took place during the winning Troop’s meeting. Unbeknownst to the Scouts, a Top Secret package was sent to the Troop for their meeting the evening of the 18th. It contained a CD that contained the surprise announcement that Charles R. from their Pack was the name drawn in the September’s Give & Goetze contest.
Charles and his Pack were awarded with a check in the amount of $1,000. Pack Leader Ken Blair and Den Leader Michael Sheridan mentioned that the funds would be used towards future Pack activities and to help subsidize kids to go to Summer Camp.
The 2012 Give & Goetze initiative started with the September issue of Boys’ Life where Scouts were asked to work together and solve a puzzle. Troop winners were awarded with Candy-Grams courtesy of Goetze’s Candy Co. to personally deliver to a charity of their choice. All winning entries were then placed into the Grand Prize drawing for $1,000.
“We wanted to give the Scouts the ability to spend some time really getting to know the people in their community while giving them a special treat,” said John Leipold, director of sales & marketing at Goetze’s Candy Co. Inc.
He added, “another opportunity for Troops to not only Do a Good Turn Daily, but Do a Sweet Turn Daily.”
Goetze’s Candy Co. Inc. is a 5th generation, family owned business that specializes in the combination of caramel and cream sweet treats.
