Cedar Rapids, Iowa, facility supports nine districts from Kansas to Wisconsin.
Pizza Wholesale of Lexington Inc., a distributor of Hunt Brothers Pizza, currently servicing 3,200 customers, is celebrating the grand opening of a new distribution center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The facility will support the expansion and growth of Hunt Brothers Pizza customers in the six states of Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Seven new full-time positions have been added to the existing 35-team members to support growth in the Midwest.
The facility is located on the former historic Hubbard Ice Co. site, where in 1883 ice was harvested from the Cedar River and supplied to the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific railroads for use in all of their refrigerated cars. Today, Pizza Wholesale of Lexington, Inc. occupies 112,000 cubic feet of sub-zero storage space, 6,300 square feet of dry storage, and access to seven dock doors for pickups and deliveries in the renovated 4.57-acre Hubbard Industrial Park complex.
“The Midwest is an area of dramatic growth opportunity for Hunt Brothers Pizza, with 80 new customers in the first six months of 2013 and a projected total of nearly 200 for the year. For Pizza Wholesale of Lexington Inc., that means we’re poised to keep expanding by creating new jobs, adding service and delivery trucks, and building a rock-solid foundation of logistical support for Hunt Brothers Pizza customers from Kansas to Wisconsin,” said Daryl Schutz, chief operating officer, Pizza Wholesale of Lexington Inc.
