Some $185,000 is donated to charities in the areas where E-Z Mart serves.
E-Z Mart Stores Inc. kicked off its 23rd Annual Jim Yates Memorial Charity Golf Tournament on Sept. 16, 2013 at the Texarkana Country Club. Approximately $185,000 was raised from the one day event.
The tournament had 240 players take part in the event. Teams consisted of four players each with a morning flight and an afternoon flight. The team members included vendor representatives along with individuals from the E-Z Mart TEAM and other businesses that work with the company throughout the year. Volunteers from the organizations receiving charitable funds, as well as E-Z Mart employees, work the event to see that the tournament runs smoothly.
The annual fundraising event provides needed monies to numerous worthy charities throughout the communities in which E-Z Mart serves by improving the lives within those communities through support of charitable organizations that respond to challenges and create positive change in the areas of education, culture, health and humanities. The E-Z Mart Jim Yates Foundation has contributed in excess of $2.7 million to local charities such as Komen Race for the Cure, American Heart Association, Domestic Violence Prevention Opportunities Inc., Women for the Arts, multiple school districts and many other organizations since its inception in 1990.
The tournament was named in honor of Jim Yates, E-Z Mart’s Founder, who headed up the annual golf tournament until his death in 1998. The tournament was renamed in 1999 to honor his memory.
E-Z Mart remains a family owned business and currently owns and operates over 300 convenience stores throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
