“We pride ourselves on being good neighbors to the communities we serve,” says CEO of CST Brands.
Over the past few weeks, Corner Store has raised $47,000 for communities impacted by the devastating floods in Colorado.
Contributions came from customers at 155 Colorado Corner Stores, Corner Store Team Members (employees) and a matching pledge from CST Brands, Corner Store’s corporate parent company. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Colorado Disaster Relief fund (www.RedCross.org).
“With thousands of families affected by the floods, we wanted to help,” said Kim Bowers, CEO of CST Brands. “We pride ourselves on being good neighbors to the communities we serve, and we have wonderful Team Members and customers who immediately stepped up.”
The flooding in Colorado resulted from torrential rainfall that began Sept. 9, devastating homes, businesses and infrastructure in multiple counties. The overall financial impact has yet to be calculated. As of Oct. 9, the Governor of Colorado had declared 24 counties as disaster areas.
Corner Store also stepped up to help during the recent wildfires, collecting $58,000 for people whose lives and homes were devastated by the most destructive wildfire in Colorado’s history.
“Colorado has withstood an onslaught of natural disasters this year,” Bowers said. “At Corner Store, we stand ready to do what we can to help. Our employees have great relationships with our customers, and we find that customers are more than eager to pitch in to help their neighbors.”
