CITGO marketer helps 14th Annual MDA Jersey Auction surpass fundraising goal.
Local CITGO Marketer PAPCO Inc. and CITGO Petroleum Corp. raised nearly $70,000 during the 14th Annual Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Jersey Auction.
Following a Norfolk Admirals’ hockey game at Scope Arena on March 22, PAPCO, CITGO and the Admirals American Hockey League Team auctioned off players’ jerseys to benefit the MDA’s advocacy, awareness and research programs in Central and Southeastern Virginia.
“We’re thrilled to have exceeded our fundraising goal for this year’s auction,” said PAPCO Director of Branded Fuels Steve Leisten. “The proceeds will support local MDA services, including sending children to MDA summer camps, promoting education and advocacy programs and trying to find a cure for neuromuscular diseases. The tremendous generosity shown by our community makes this all possible.”
MDA Goodwill Ambassador Kyle Belgrade performed the auction’s ceremonial puck drop, escorted by four Miss Virginia titleholders: Miss Chesterfield, Savannah Lane; Miss State Fair of Virginia, Courtney Garrett; Miss Greater Hampton Roads, Katie Pimblett; and Miss York County, Chrissy Ching. CITGO and its network of local Marketers like PAPCO have partnered with the Miss America Organization to raise awareness for issues around improving health, education and other social initiatives.
PAPCO is a petroleum solutions supplier in the eastern U.S. and markets refined fuels, lubricants, risk management products and fuel card fleet management programs to a broad customer base, including industrial, retail, marine, commercial transportation companies and federal, state and municipal government end users.
As MDA’s largest corporate sponsor, CITGO has raised more than $160 million since 1986 to help provide health care services for MDA families nationwide and to rally local communities to raise awareness and help find treatments and cures for neuromuscular disease.
