Local CITGO retailer raises nearly $40,000 to benefit school athletic department and lunch programs.
Representatives from CITGO Retailer Lightning Mart in Lafayette, Ind. joined more than 250 golfers and 50 volunteers for a day of golf and prize raffles to benefit the Lafayette Jefferson Golden Broncho Birdie Bash.
The event, held on Aug. 23, raised nearly $40,000 to benefit the Golden Broncho Club, a non-profit founded to foster loyalty to and financial support for the athletic programs of Jefferson High School as well as the junior high and elementary schools in the Lafayette School Corporation. The funds raised will support the Lafayette Jefferson High School athletic department and the school lunch program.
“We are honored to participate in this event and to raise money for such a worthy cause. The students, parents and teachers at Lafayette Jefferson High School are our customers and neighbors, so we were thrilled to support them,” said Jason Ash, wholesale business manager at National Wholesale Foods, a fuel supplier to Lighting Mart. “We know athletics are so important to teaching students important rules of life. And of course, ensuring that students have good lunches to fuel them through sports practice and their academic day is vital.”
“One of the four pillars of the CITGO social responsibility program is education,” said Rafael Gómez, vice president of government and public affairs at CITGO, “so it makes us proud that our local Marketers and Retailers support these types of fundraising events that are so close to our hearts.”
Lightning Mart is a wholesale fuel customer of National Wholesale Fuels, a division of Circle K, one of the nation’s leading convenience store chains. With more than 3,300 locations across the U.S., the company is known worldwide for quality products and great customer service and currently supplies quality CITGO products to 10 CITGO locations across Indiana.
