Atlas Oil Co. has launched a new safety related social media campaign called #RespectTheRig.
The campaign features short videos of Atlas drivers giving safe driving tips for sharing the road with big rigs. Atlas invites other big rig drivers, trucking associations and other organizations to join the conversation at #RespectTheRig.
Atlas Oil Co. has more than 200 trucks on the road every day and, according the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, there are approximately 11,000,000 trucks total on the road in the U.S. on any given day. Statistics point to the fact that a majority of truck driving accidents are caused by drivers of passenger vehicles who drive unsafely around big rigs. This campaign is designed to create awareness about safe driving.
“We promote a safety culture at Atlas,” said Michael Evans, president of Atlas Oil Co. “Our drivers are trained and certified in the safety regulations that the Department of Transportation requires of our big rig drivers. It is important for the drivers of passenger vehicles to understand that their actions on the road affect not only our team, but all big rig driving teams as well as other drivers sharing the road. We hope this campaign generates awareness and support for all drivers, regardless of industry.”
