Safeway shoppers can still redeem points at Safeway locations with on-site gas stations.

Safeway and ExxonMobil have concluded a gas partnership program in the Mid-Atlantic that began in January 2013. The Exxon partnership ended May 31, according to a report by the Washington Business Journal.

The partnership made it possible for shoppers to redeem Safeway points at any participating Exxon or Mobil gas station, getting 10 cents a gallon off the price for every $100 spent at a Safeway store.

Going forward, Safeway Club Card members can only redeem their Safeway points at Safeway stores with on-site gas stations.

Exxon recently announced its involvement with a new loyalty coalition with Plenti.
