7-Eleven faces lawsuit over patent infringement involving sunglasses.
7-Eleven Inc. has been accused of willfully and intentionally infringing six patents of Oakley Inc. that involve the design of its sunglasses.
The suit, which is being brought before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, alleges 7-Eleven has directly and/or indirectly made, used, sold, offered for sale and/or imported eyewear having a design that is covered by claims of the patents. The actions were taken without Oakley’s approval, according to the patent-infringement complaint, as reported by Law 360 Online.
The patents were granted between July 2007 and October 2013, according to court papers. 7-Eleven is accused of patent infringement at stores in California cities, including San Diego and Laguna Niguel, according to the lawsuit.
