Patent-infringement case results in the payment of $9.25 million in damages.
A Texas jury has found that Murphy USA has infringed upon four patents on automated synchronous pricing and advertising system patents. Murphy must now pay $9.25 million in damages to Banys, P.C.’s trial team, led by Christopher Banys, along with Wesley Hill of Ward, Smith & Hill, PLLC.
The plaintiffs, Brian Freeny, James Freeny, and Charles Freeny III, are the sons of noted Dallas-area inventor Charles Freeny, Jr. “I am very proud to obtain this victory for the Freeny Brothers,” said firm founder Christopher Banys. “Charles Freeny, Jr. was a true American inventor and it is wonderful to see his legacy vindicated.”
The case is Freeny, et, al., v. Murphy USA, Inc., Case No. 2:13-CV-791-RSP (E.D. Tex.)
