The great suspense that was felt yesterday, July 21, 2015, awaiting the Wawa beer sales decision will continue for another two weeks.
The time has come and gone for the Concord Township Board of Supervisors to make a decision as to whether the Delaware County, Pa. Wawa convenience store should be allowed to sell beer, but no decision has been made.
According to a report by The Morning Call, the board has decided to postpone their decision for at least another two weeks. Just hours before the verdict was due, the board announced that no decision would be made until the supervisors reconvene on Aug. 4. No explanation has been given as to why the decision has been postponed.
Even if the board approves the application for Wawa to sell beer, this would only be preliminary, because the state will still have to approve of the motion. Concord’s supervisors approved a similar application for a Wegman’s store that is expected to open in the fall to sell beer. Nearly 250 stores across Pennsylvania have been approved to sell beer, but Wawa will have to endure a few more weeks of suspense before they will know if they will be joining those stores.
