How to Sweeten Up Candy Sales

When you are stocking your store, the chocolate section cannot be overlooked.

By Amber Koontz, Editorial Intern

It’s no secret that chocolate prices have increased in recent months, but this is not stopping customers from indulging in their favorite chocolatey snacks. On the contrary, chocolate sales are continuing to grow, albeit at a slower rate, despite the price increases. Chocolate sales are expected to continue to grow over the next five years, so don’t let the price increases deter you from offering your customers their favorite chocolate treats.

When it comes to chocolate, it is hard to go wrong. New products and variety add excitement to the customers’ experience while selecting a treat, but old favorites are still big sellers. Although customers love variety, having too much variety can hurt more than it helps. Too much variety can cause an exciting experience to become one of indecision for the customer. Having too much variety may also result in an excess of overlooked products which may not sell well.

A great way to boost the chocolate sales in your store is to allow manufacturers and distributors to help build the category in your store. Dedicating space to advertising the brands you sell and working with distributors to keep your chocolate selection fresh, new and exciting is a great way to promote the sale of chocolate in your store.
