After 26 years in the industry MKM Oil has decided to leave its stores in the hands of a company that has the ability to take the stores to the next level.
MKM Oil Co. has sold its 33 Central Illinois Fresh & Fast convenience stores to Travel Centers of America. Terry Monroe, president of American Business Brokers & Advisors, stated that this sale was finalized after MKM Oil received merger and acquisition advisory services from American Business Brokers & Advisors and W.J.F. Services.
With headquarters in Gardner, Ill., MKM Oil directly operated 33 Fresh & Fast Stores prior to the sale.
MKM Oil, which has been in business since 1989, began with one gas station, which later was converted to a convenience store to the present store base of 33 convenience stores.
Rick Marketti, MKM Oil’s president, said that he will miss the excitement and challenges of operating the chain of 33 stores, but he and his partner Gary Kavanagh both agreed that the time had come for them to sell, after 26 years, and allow others to take the stores to the next level.
American Business Brokers & Advisors is an independent advisory & transaction focused company based in Effingham, Ill., and W.J.F. Services, Inc. is a petroleum advisory service based in Normal, Ill.
