Inspired by the Kentucky State Fair, new doughnut flavor is sure to ‘wow’ c-store customers.

Thorntons Inc. has rolled out a new doughnut flavor: Cotton Candy! The new bakery item is available for a limited time through the end of August in Louisville, Southern Indiana and Lexington, Ky. Thorntons convenience store locations.

Inspired by memories of exploring the state fair with puffy, fluffy, pastel—colored clouds of dessert on a stick in their hands, the pastry masters at Thorntons’ local bakery created the Cotton Candy Donut.

They took a glazed yeast doughnut, dunked it in cotton candy—flavored pink icing, covered it with colorful rainbow sprinkles, and topped it all off with a dollop of creamy blue cotton candy—flavored whipped cream. The result is a colorful pastry that excites your eyes, satisfies your sweet tooth, and propels you to Cotton Candy cloud nine.

The Cotton Candy Donut is a fun twist on the Kentucky State Fair, and just like that beloved annual end of summer event, it won’t last forever.
