Customers are set to pay the lowest average price for gas over the Labor Day weekend in 11 years as long as there are no supply disruption surprises.
Gas prices are expected to be the lowest they have been over Labor Day weekend since 2004.
On Monday, Aug. 31, AAA reported that the national average price for regular unleaded gas had tumbled for 14 straight days, dropping a total of 20 cents per gallon for a price of $2.47 per gallon. That’s 12 cents per gallon lower than a week ago and 18 cents per gallon less than last month. As long as there are no major supply disruptions between now and Monday, fuel customers should continue to enjoy this downward trend through the holiday weekend.
Drivers can thank the current low price of crude oil for their savings at the pump.
This week Alaska ($3.40) unseated California ($3.35) as the most expensive place for gas. But South Carolina ($2.02) continues its reign as the state with the lowest priced.
