I believe working at a convenience store should be offered as a work release credit in high school. The benefits this education offers students are priceless.
Tolerance, patience and self-control are just a few of the social skills that have to be mastered as a convenience store employee.
I recently spent a number of hours in the Emergency Room in a hospital with a heart related problem. The hospital floor doctor was so rude I left the hospital by ambulance to another hospital. Being a patient, a customer, a heart attack victim, didn’t matter; his excuse was that he was having a bad day.
In the convenience store business, each employee must be at his/her best all the time. Bad days are not allowed, and customers will not accept anything but the best. Poor customer service is not allowed in the convenience store industry, and shouldn’t be allowed anywhere else. I believe the convenience store industry sets the standard. Maintaining that standard is a challenge and excuses for rude behavior are not accepted.
