Jeff Bush, director of fuel management at Parker’s, recently presented Candler County school board members Carolyn Byrd, Rhonda Hendrix, Craig Lanier and Cheryl Hendricks as well as School Superintendent Dr. Bubba Longgrear (l-r) with a check for $1,000 as part of the convenience store company’s Fueling the Community program.

Candler County School District receives $1,000 donation.

As part of its Fueling the Community program, Parker’s Convenience Store chain recently presented the Candler County School District in Georgia with a $1,000 donation.

The donation, which is part of a larger unrestricted charitable contribution to area schools, was officially presented at the Candler County School District’s Board of Education meeting in Metter, Ga. on Sept. 17.

“On behalf of everyone at Parker’s, it is my pleasure to present this donation to benefit students in Candler County,” said Jeff Bush, director of fuel management at Parker’s. “We truly believe education is the key to creating stronger communities. Education has the power to reduce crime, strengthen neighborhoods and transform lives.”

Parker’s donates one cent of every gallon of gas purchased at all of its convenience stores on the first Wednesday of the month to area schools through the Fueling the Community program. The company’s charitable initiative officially launched in the fall of 2011 and donates money to public and private schools across Georgia and South Carolina and to the Parker’s Emergency and Trauma Center at Memorial Hospital in Savannah.

Parker’s customers can sign up for a PumpPal card online at www.PumpPalClub.com to select a school of their choice for their one cent per gallon donation. Existing PumpPal members can access their account online and select a specific school to receive donations.

Founded in 1976, Parker’s has earned accolades for its free PumpPal program, which offers deep discounts on gas and has saved customers more than $5 million since its inception. Today, the PumpPal program has more than 100,000 members throughout Georgia and South Carolina. The company also launched a free Parker’s Cash Card earlier this year, which has also enjoyed tremendous success.

Parker’s currently operates 38 convenience stores across the region and employs nearly 500 individuals throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
