Dunkin’ says the closures aren’t due to poor performance and will allow it to open full-service locations in the areas.
Dunkin’ Donuts is closing 100 franchise units inside Speedway stores in 2015 and 2016, representing about 0.1% of Dunkin’ Donuts U.S. sales.
WYTV reported that the franchise unit closures will give Dunkin’ Donuts the chance to re-enter some of the markets with full-service outlets.
Grant Benson, vice president of global franchising and business development for Dunkin’ Brands, said the stores were not being closed due to poor performance, according to CNN Money.
Dunkin’ Donut’s stock dropped more than 12% after the news was announced.
