Walmart seeks to use established store fronts as pickup locations for Walmart goods purchased online.
Select 7-Eleven Canada stores will soon act as 24/7 pickup locations for online Walmart orders.
According to a report from the Toronto Star, customers ordering from Walmart.ca will soon have the option to pick up packages from one of six convenience stores operated by 7-Eleven. This new program is an extension of the current Walmart locker service, available at it’s Canadian head office, select Greater Toronto Area stores and in Kapuskasing, Ont.
Customers using the locker service will be sent an email with a six digit code which will remain active for seven days, and they can pick up their orders at their desired 7-Eleven store by presenting the code. This is one of the many attempts Walmart is making to use existing store fronts as pickup locations for goods purchased online.
The program is slated to run for six months and the six participating stores are in Brampton, Burlington, Toronto, Mississauga and Vaughan.
