Jiffy Mart and Tevis Motor Fuel has been awarded by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and Carroll County Department of Economic Development to recognize their contributions to the local economy.
When evaluating each business for recognition, the Chamber considered each company’s history and background, performance and growth, innovation and creativity, Competitiveness and Community Involvement.
Jiffy Mart and Tevis Motor Fuel received a Chamber of Commerce award in the category of Small Business of the Year with 51-200 Employees. Accepting the award- Dwayne Cover, business manager – Jiffy Mart; Tom Moser, general manager – Jiffy Mart; Steve Smith, general manager – Motor Fuels; Tim Watkins, business manager – Motor Fuels. Jiffy Mart and Tevis Motor Fuel has been recognized with this award four times now in the past five years. In 2014, the company was awarded at the State level from the Maryland Chamber of Commerce being recognized as small business of the year.
Tevis Oil was formed in 1932. Tevis Motor Fuel began servicing its first service station in 1935. In 1981, Tevis Oil diversified into the convenience store industry. In Carroll County, Md. currently there are four Tevis Oil owned and operated convenience stores operating under the Jiffy Mart Brand. There are four leased convenience stores/service stations; two branded Shell, one Branded BP and one unbranded. There are three additional locations outside of the county.
