VERC exceeds $10,000 fundraising goal through the Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
VERC Enterprises, a convenience store and Mobil/Gulf gasoline operator, has exceeded its $10,000 fundraising goal of $10,000 for cancer research. The company raised a total of $11,207 through this year’s Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
Team VERC was comprised of 60 VERC employees, relatives and friends, all participating in the annual fundraiser, this year held on Oct. 4 at the Hatch Shell in Boston.
The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is a powerful and inspiring opportunity to honor breast cancer survivors, increase awareness about the disease and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease through research, information and services.
For the past several weeks, VERC Enterprises accepted donations for the walk at canisters placed in each of its locations and also accepted online donations.
According to Erin Fitzpatrick, the company’s marketing assistant/social media manager and team VERC leader, the Marlboro, Mass. Gulf location raised almost $5,000 of the total donation. She extended kudos to Marlboro, Mass. store manager Mike Johnston and his assistant Shirley Heffron and team for their efforts.
Fitzpatrick also made special mention of Wanda Vidal, manager of Danvers, Mass. VERC Gulf; Vidal has participated in the annual fundraiser for many years and has consistently ensured that members of her family and friends are on team VERC.
“We can’t say thank you enough to everyone on team VERC and all our customers who donated to this remarkable cause,” said Fitzpatrick, noting that she walked dogs for donations and called the loving effort “Walking Paws For a Cause.”
“It was our privilege to participate in such an inspiring event that raises awareness about a disease that affects so many people,” said Leo Vercollone, CEO of VERC Enterprises, Inc.
